At Associated Wear Coatings, we are constantly striving to stay on the cutting edge of thermal spray technologies. We have recently purchased a Stellite, JET-KOTE II NOVA system and have been running a Tafa JP-5000 system since early in 2000.

Both of these systems are HVOF (high velocity oxygen fuel) type. The NOVA system is primarily used for small or irregularly shaped parts that need delicate masking. The JP-5000 system is known for it's ability to produce coatings in compression instead of tension. Because of this trait, the JP-5000 is able to spray Tungsten Carbide coatings to a much greater thickness than is possible with other systems on the market.

Typical characteristics of HVOF coatings include bond strengths in excess of 10,000 psi, hardness in the 55 - 72 Rc range, high density, and excellent resistance to reciprocating wear and fretting.
