Metallizing is the oldest of the Thermal Spray processes. There are
two types of metallizing systems currently being used in this
industry. One of these, the Combustion Wire gun, uses an oxygen and
acetylene flame to melt the wire material. (above left) The other is
the Twin Arc Electric Metallizing system. This system uses two wires
fed into the gun at the same time and creates an electrical arc
between the two that melts the wire. (right) Both systems then use
compressed air to create atomized particles and propel them onto the
work piece. |
